The Academy and KL invite local stakeholders to collaborate on new welfare initiatives
What does it look like when we create new frameworks for good lives in the places where we live? What does well-being look like if it’s something we give to one another?
Since 2024, the Academy and KL have been collaborating to develop the welfare of the future in local communities throughout Denmark. Six visionary municipalities—Bornholm, Faxe, Glostrup, Greve, Ishøj, and Aarhus—have proposed concrete welfare initiatives covering everything from services for the elderly to helping families with children get a good start in life.
How can we facilitate a conversation with residents about their expectations regarding municipal welfare services?

We’re now expanding our community so that even more people will have the opportunity to share knowledge, inspire, and challenge one another.

About
We meet in person three times a year (full days). The dates for 2026 are April 22, June 17, and October 22. Between these meetings, we meet online for shorter sessions and conduct experiments locally.
At these gatherings, we’ll gain new insights from external speakers, work on our own initiatives, and collaborate across teams. At the gathering on April 22, we’ll explore learning, change, evaluation, and impact.
All stakeholders are welcome to participate, as long as the initiatives are rooted in the local community and focus specifically on the future of welfare. The initiative may be well advanced in its development or just about to get started.
Each initiative will be represented by 3–4 people representing two of the organizations involved, such as a municipality and a civil society organization, a business and a residents’ association, or similar.
